Revitalize African-American Communities - One Computer at a Time!

The BeC Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Southeast Michigan whose purpose is to provide technology training and computer resources in African-American communities across the United Sates on a local and national level, where support systems and resources are limited. The BeC Foundation's primary focus is to bridge the digital divide in traditionally underserved communities across the country by educating children, providing computer literacy classes and donating computers to people without the financial resources to purchase them by partnering with businesses and other organizations.

Our role in the community will be to reinvest in African-American communities in the United States through two primary online initiatives Technology Awareness and Computer Donations.

Your role is to support this effort with a monetary donation to help educate children, reduce computer illiteracy, and support other like-minded grant-making organizations to revitalize our communities one computer at a time.

Technology Awareness

The Technology Awareness initiative focuses on increasing computer literacy in African-American communities by offering computer training to children ages 3-17 years old. The BeC Foundation will form strategic alliances with existing non-profits—preferably national—that offer similar services to ensure measurable objectives are met. The BeC Foundation will offer online end-user computer training, in courses ranging from introduction to computers to the more advance courses, such as web design, to prepare participants for our technology driven world. The web-based training method allows participants to complete lessons at their own pace and in accordance with their own schedules.

Computer Donations

The organization will partner with grant-making organizations to raise funds to donate computers or computer vouchers to African-American children and families to help bridge the digital divide. The BeC Foundation intends to raise funds which would be utilized to donate computers or computer vouchers to schools and community organizations without access to computers. This program will ensure that computers are provided to those individuals and organizations that would not normally have the means to purchase a computer.
